In Costa Rica, many farmers who are produce fine coffees will build their own mill to process their crop and capture a higher price for what’s known as a microlot. For many hard-working coffee producers this simply isn’t an option. A cooperative in the heart of Costa Rica called Coope Tarrazu is helping these growers, by separating out coffees from communities that are of exceptional quality and paying premiums to the farmers that contribute to these lots. The result: fantastic coffees for us all, and much needed funds for projects like new roads, fresh water storage and school repairs in the community of “La Trinidad.”
